Sick & Tired...

Literally!!! Ever since we got home from Florida we've been dealing with sickness and I'm so tired of it. It went through all of us once, and is back to me, again. I've had this cough that honestly has made me feel like all I do is 500 sit ups every 2 hours. My stomach should have a nice set of abs about now, but no. And my throat feels like it's on fire. I am so not a dr. person. I really hate going because I just don't want them thinking I'm some kind of hypocondriac (sp?) who goes in for every little thing. But today I finally gave in. I've decided that if I'm going to have to stay home and take care of my children, I have to get better. All they tell me is I have some measly ear infection!! The whole right side of my neck is swollen from the drainage, and I feel like it's drained every last ounce of energy right out of me. So, now I feel like a big wimp because all it is is an ear infection and I feel like crap. How do kids get ear infections all the time and still want to run around and play like nothings bothering them? Not even the green snot sliding down their face? Gross, I know. I just have to vent.

Late again

First, let me apologize to Janet. I'm sure she was on here yesterday wondering what fabulous things I would say about her on her birthday, only to find...nothing!! Aren't I just a sweet daughter-in-law?! Well, the day before yesterday I started back up with this stupid sickness that my family has already had. Then yesterday I went up to help Makayla finish packing things up, and today, wouldn't you know it...I layed around, mostly in bed, most of the day!! Oh, I am so tired of this, and really I'm more tired than anything. Except for the cough.

Anyway, on to Janet. I think I've already warned everyone how April & May are for this family. So, I apologize to any of the family who didn't make it on here yet. Truly I haven't really felt up to blogging. But Janet, I want to say I hope you had a great day and got all the things you wanted. We love you!!
Happy Birthday!!!

My Best Friend...

So I'm totally behind on life itself right now, but I had to do this post. And it's going to be completely humiliating to me, but it's worth it. This post is dedicated to TaLu (Tay - loo), even though I'm pretty sure she doesn't even get on the blog. She has 3 little kids: Kadynce 2 1/2; Kymber 1 1/2; Gage 5 mos. I love her to death, and we have been through a lot together.

So, TaLu's birthday was last Monday, and I just haven't sat down to do a post for her yet. So here it is. And like I said, it will be more humiliating for me! I can't believe we actually went to school looking like this!
We first met at a birthday party in the 2nd grade. We were in the same 3rd grade class, and from there it's history!

We thought we were the shiz on the moped. Whatever! I don't think we were even 16, that's probably why. (What is my outfit?)

In 2003, before we were both married, we went to Hawaii with 6 other girls. We had the time of our lives! I totally wish I would have done more trips like that back then.

So, even though she's more than likely not going to see this, I have to say... TaLu, I love you so much! We've had some great times, tons of laughs, many with tears and pee, and tons of tears. Sad ones. I remember only one time that we went almost a half a school year not speaking. Why did we do that to ourselves? I love that we can speak only a handful of times during the year, and pick up right where we left off. You are my best friend!!

Happy Birthday!!

My Big Brother

Yes, another birthday I'm late for. Well, I actually celebrated with him, but haven't posted yet. Shan has always been such a great older brother. He was always such a good example to me, and still is. He is smart, hard working, and fun. He loves his boys...hunting...fishing...camping...who am I kidding - He loves the outdoors!!!
Shan, thank you for being such a great big brother.
Happy Birthday!

She's here!!

This morning at 3:35, Addison Mae Curtis finally graced us with her presence. She's actually about 2 weeks early, but we were so ready for her to be here. She weighed 5 lb 15 oz, and has lots of dark hair. She looks just like Kadence. So much I couldn't stop laughing about it when I was holding her. Mom and baby are doing great and trying to get some sleep after the long night. Makayla's water broke yesterday, late afternoon. She wasn't really having contractions, and once she got to the hospital and all hooked up, she started having some good ones until they finally upped her pitocin and had her move to her side. Then they stopped. At about 12:30 I told them to call me when she started pushing. They called around 2:45 but I missed the call, go figure. I suddenly woke up at 5:15 and rushed to the hospital. She's adorable Makayla, good job!!

Drum roll please....

I'm sure you've all been dying to know what happened over the weekend. So here's the update! It's pretty long, but I had to.
Ok, so we just got back from the most amazing trip to Florida! We stayed at this absolutely beautiful hotel, the Gaylord Palms. It was amazing. I only ever left it twice, once to go shopping, once to go over to Downtown Disney with the rest of the group.

When we pulled up to the Hotel, this was out front all roped off but there were so many hand prints on it from everyone wanting to look inside. Obviously the ropes didn't do their job!

We got there late enough Friday that we just got checked in, went and found somewhere super yummy to eat, then just sort of walked around the place. Saturday morning we got up and went to registration, then all the guys went to the opening with Jimmy John. They showed some great footage of Colby and Dave from when they went back there a few weeks ago to interview for all of this. The whole rest of the day and clear into the night people would come up to Colby and tell him what a great job he did. He was a celebrity the whole time! While Colby was in workshops I went to one of the pools and got a killer tan, or I guess I should say burn. After a while of that I went shopping, and on my way back the stupid cab driver totally didn't know where he was supposed to go and we got lost. Anyway, Colby learned a lot during that day and had a great time. That night we all got on a bus and went over to Downtown Disney. We pretty much were on our own to do whatever we wanted. We met up with our whole group and ate at House of Blues.
After dinner Doug treated us all to the most fabulous show I have ever seen, Cirque du Soleil!!! Oh my goodness, do those people have some talent. We had great seats and a great time!

On Sunday morning we got up and went to the breakfast and then over to see Jimmy John speak. Colby then went to more workshops and I went back to the pool. The guest speaker this year was Rusty Wallace. He was a NASCAR driver, and now his son drives the Jimmy John's car, so they had the car there to see also. After the speaker they gave away the Mustang.

The store with the fastest continuous deliveries won it!

For the lunch, oh my holy cow! They had this amazing lunch and also gave away the first Jeep. Colby was assigned a table to sit at so we pretty much knew he was going to win something at these awards. The whole time during the lunch I was just sick to my stomach because I was so nervous. My foot was going a hundred miles an hour, and I barely ate anything. Well, we were totally under the wrong impression of what award Colby was actually up for, so sadly, he didn't win the jeep at the lunch.

After the lunch, I returned to the pool, and Colby went back to workshops. What a vacation for him, eh? That night was the final dinner and awards. It was 'Pool Party' style, and we had a great time. I was introduced to Jimmy John and got to have a picture with him He seriously is so nice, and the face he's making, it's just his face. He's always smiling and happy. Probably drunk, but at least he's a pleasure to be around. Everyone there was pretty much sauced, and some were quite obnoxious. They had 'Heavy Appetizers', and boy were they Heavy. All sorts of kabobs with huge pieces of meat, lobster, crab claws, lamb, oh boy I don't even know what else. I had one kabob and was done. We also knew there were still 2 jeeps and 5 Rolex watches to give away, so I was nervous again. They finally got the program started and when they announced the G.M.'s of the year Jimmy John said "This first guy said he never wants to work for anyone else, and..." I don't even remember what else he said because we knew it was Colby and were too busy watching him and being excited for him!!! Yeah!!! Colby was the first G.M. announced and got a very fancy Rolex watch. It's amazing! **A little history...last year at the convention Colby told his boss' and Jimmy John 'That will be me next year! I'm going to win this!' And he did!!!

After they called his name they showed his video from when he interviewed and it was neat to see all the things he said. It's not a very good picture but, you get the idea.

After the awards, a bunch of us went mini-golfing and had a blast. We played for ice cream, and wouldn't ya know it, Colby & I lost so we had to buy! We had so much fun!!

So really, we had such a great weekend, mini vacation get-a-way, and totally enjoyed ourselves. Thank you so much to all of our family who helped with the boys, and especially to Doug & Dave for letting me be a part of such an amazing event for Colby!! And Congrats honey!! I am so proud of you and all of your hard work, it totally paid off!!
**side note: of course we would have loved to have won the Jeep, but like I said, we were under the wrong impression of what the awards were actually for. Also, Colby is proud of the watch and so am I. For us, a Rolex isn't something we would ever just go out and buy. This way, it's something he has earned and is very proud of. Besides, like I have told many people, the simple fact that he was even nominated, or whatever they do for this, was such an awesome thing! Colby has worked really hard and totally loves his job, and now he has proved it.

Happy Mother's Day

I know it's a little early, but since we're not going to be here I thought I would get a little head start. These are our mom's! We love them all so much and are so grateful for everything they do for us. They all take very good care of us and we don't know what we would do without any of them! This weekend we are especially grateful since they are taking care of our boys. Thank you moms!! We love you and hope you all have a very HaPpY MoThEr'S DaY!!

Happy Birthday Kent!!

Kent is our father-in-law, and the best one at that! If any of you don't understand how he can be mine & Colby's f-i-l, see here. Kent loves to hunt and fish, and lucky him, that's his job. He is a pro golfer. He absolutely adores his grandchildren, all of them!! Kent basically raised Noah after Natalie died, and they have been best buddies ever since! His all time favorite show is Seinfeld, and he can recite every line ever written for it. And he always puts his family first, unless he's hunting or fishing of course. Kent, we love you and hope you have a very Happy Birthday!!

Father's & Sons

This past weekend was Father's and Sons for our ward. So about a week and a half ago, Colby comes home and tells me he's taking the boys camping. Then proceeds to tell me it's F&S. I asked him if he's really planning on taking both of the boys and he says "Yes, it's f&s, you can't just take one son." So I tell him good luck. Well, he did it. I don't really know how, but he did. They left Friday after work and took the 4-wheelers up to Enterprise to join the rest of the men. He camped next to the Foggins, who he does scouts with, and said the boys had a great time. I was mostly worried about bedtime. Cutler is just such a routine kind of kid. So I worried when he didn't have his bath and rocked and stories and all that normal stuff. This is what Colby said happened:
  • First of all, the boys played so hard they were beat when it got night time.
  • While they were sitting around the fire that night, Cutler kept falling over and off his chair because he was so tired.
  • Colby got Cutler in his pj's first, then Foggin held him while he helped Noah.
  • Colby had to take back the flashlight he borrowed (yes, he or I forgot to pack one). When he got back to the tent, Cutler was just laying on the sleeping bag. So Colb put him inside with him, and he was out in 2 minutes.
  • Even Noah quietly asked "Dad, is Cutler already asleep?"
  • In the morning they cooked breakfast for them and then pretty much everyone took off.
  • Colby and the boys rode the wheelers for a few hours.
  • They found the pipes you see in the picture, and Colby said they could have played there for hours. Of course, they're boys!!
  • They all had sunburns, but that was the worst injury. (Surprise, surprise!)

The boys (all of them) had a great time, and I'm sure it will continue to be an annual thing. Hopefully! Even Cutler will tell you he had fun camping.

I got to spend the evening and Saturday doing only what I wanted to do. It was very nice. Friday night I got dinner for my parents and went shopping for my sister's baby with my mom. I went home at about 10:30 but couldn't go to sleep. Finally, at 3:00 a.m. I dozed. I was up at 6:30 off and on until about 8:00. I finally got up and got ready to go to the What Women Want Expo with Sherie & Mel. It was a good ME day! But I missed my boys!!

Glad they had fun.

Glad they were safe.

Glad they're home!!

What does it mean?

Last week Dave (Colby's buddy, ok boss) had a dinner at his house for all the managers and their wives. While we were there we had some great conversations, laughs, and food. Oh my, the food! After dinner it started to get a little chilly so we went inside to finish chatting. A while into it Dave starts giving us, the wives, a lecture basically on how we need to be supportive when he wants to take our husbands out to dinner and reward them for their hard work. Well, in the past, this has sort of been a sore subject for Colby and I. I just don't understand why after Dave works with them all day, and sometimes after a Thursday when they have meetings for 2 or 3 hours he still needs to take them to dinner. Colby and I have concluded that it's mostly because he needs friends. (Not really, but that's the only thing we can come up with) So I'm pretty sure this whole lecture was pointed directly to me. At one point I actually almost asked him if it was. So he proceeded to tell us that he understands how we don't really get a break, you know, we take care of the kids and house and stuff. That's when I got daring. I opened my big mouth, and now I'm actually embarrassed about it. Here ya go:

me: Ya, well I thought I was going to get a break next weekend.
Doug (the other boss): What's next weekend?
me: Oh I don't know, Orlando!! (it's the J.J. convention this weekend-remember, g.m. of the year?)
Dave: Oh, you don't want to go there. It's work. It's not even fun. It's meetings all day for 2 days.
me: I could care less what you guys did there. I have a friend I can go visit. Shoot, I could lay by the pool the entire time and not even care. You know, the other day we got online to see how much a ticket would be for me to go out there. But then I got thinking about it, and I really don't know if I can leave my boys for 4 days!

Then we started talking about leaving kids, and blah blah blah...
Anyhow, a little while later Dave pulled Colby out of the room. I asked Colb why later but he said he couldn't tell me until the next day.

So the next morning Colby calls me from work to tell me that they're looking at getting me a ticket to fly out to Florida. I was totally embarrassed. I still am. But he said that's why Dave pulled him out of the room. Now they all call B.S. on me because I said I couldn't leave my boys. But since they're paying for me then it's ok. They're totally fine with it, but seriously I feel dumb. Oh well, I get to go to Orlando! So... What does this mean?????!!!!!

What I LOVE about Sundays...

In no particular order, these are the things I look forward to most on Sundays!

A scrumptiously, delicious, good ol' fashioned 'Sunday Dinner', prepared by none other than my mom. Roast, mashed potatoes, rolls, and salad are the norm. Every Fast Sunday we get together with my family for dinner and enjoy this fabulous meal. Thanks MOM!!

'Adult conversation'
Our visiting time after we've completed our meal and waiting for dessert. These discussions at the Miller home quite often get deep and can be very heated!

Kids playing
Not so much listening to the kids yell and scream, but knowing they are playing with their cousins and having fun. (grandpa had put a movie on to try and get them to settle down a bit. Ya right!)
Walks!
We actually do this almost daily (not to my parents house), when we don't have anything else to do and especially right now while the weather is so nice. My parents live only about a mile away, so it's a good walk and ride for Noah. It helps release some energy!

Reading the Weddings in the paper.

No, I don't know these people (some of you might) but I thought they looked happy! We always look to first, see if we know anyone, second there are some funny looking people in there. You all know it's true!!
Brothers & Sisters

This is my all-time favorite show right now. They are so funny, and just portray the everyday family and family situations so well I think.

Taking a nap

I swear there's nothing better than a Sunday nap. They're just different. So much more relaxing.

Some of my other favorites are clipping coupons, and of course I love going to church and feeling the spirit there. Let's face it though, I teach in the nursery, there's not much spirit to be felt there. Especially with my own 20 month old child. Come on, you all know what I'm talking about. Even if you're not in Nursery, Sacrament is the very same. It's so hard to really listen to the speakers when you've got 2 little boys needing to constantly be entertained, fed, held, whatever it is to keep them quiet. And that's usually not possible either.
I just wanted to share the things I love most about today, Sunday's. Hopefully this will remind you of some of the things you love. Please share!
