Family camping trip

Last weekend we took our very first 'Family' camping trip in the trailer. We went up Friday night, and were home by 2:00 Saturday afternoon. It was perfect. Our friends the Thompsons came up and had dinner with us, and the boys played for a while. They all play so good together, and the boys are just that...boys!

Brennen shot a rabbit with his bow. The kids all thought that was the coolest thing ever. Especially the little boys.

Noah was hardly ever around. He, Brennen and Preston would try to find more rabbits, or go check out the creek.

Lexie did amazing. I didn't really expect anything else. She seriously is the best baby ever.

Colby got up and made us all breakfast. Then he and the boys went for a little hike to check out the creek, I guess.
Then off to do some fishing while Lexie had a nap and I played cards. I seriously felt like my grandma Miller. That's all she ever did, sat in the motorhome and played solitaire. She taught me a ton of different games, if only I could remember them all now. We're teaching Cutler well.

Noah gets bored with fishing if they're not catching any. They did catch some, but he was more interested in the bugs.
If every camping trip was like this one, we are going to have a blast this summer. The kids were good, the weather was nice, and we all just had a good time.

School's out for summer

and I have mixed feelings about it. I think Noah does too. I can't believe he is going to be in 1st grade! He has learned so much this year and Colby & I are so proud of him. We loved his teacher Mrs. Vaka, and so did he. He had some moments in class where he couldn't, or wouldn't (more likely) stop talking or leaving the other kids alone at his table, so he would have to get moved to another desk all by himself. Colby told me he was the same way his whole life, I am totally not looking forward to that every year!

They didn't have a graduation like most schools, but they did this totally cute program for all the parents.

notice how involved Noah is in this song. I swear.

(for some reason my camera doesn't take good pictures in the gym
I'm positive it's not me.)

After the kids all sang a couple of songs we went back to Mrs. Vaka's classroom for them to tell us a story they had all memorized a part to. Noah talks so quiet you can barely hear him. There was another little boy being so noisy and his mom didn't ever tell him to be quiet so turn up the volume to hear Noah's part.

Then we went outside to have a little reading picnic. It was fun to see his whole class and see and hear what they have been learning.

**Noah, dad and I are so proud of you. You have grown so much this year and have learned a ton! As hard as it's been, all the yelling, crying, and fighting, we made it! I can't wait to see what you learn next year, and see just how smart you can get.

First grade, here we come!

Hot summer fun

Since we are now officially in the hot weather season, if we're not inside trying to keep cool the boys are outside playing in our $8.00 KMart special from last year. It even has a hole in the bottom - but it still holds water, go figure. I'm cheap, I know. I actually did buy a slip 'n slide that got broken the first time we used it, but with a little packing tape it's still usable. They love to play on that but it totally kills our grass (notice the yellow grass behind the pool). I've already gone through a can and a half of sunscreen in only a month. I guess it's a good thing I just stocked up from Costco.

And at night or on the weekend when Colby's home and willing to play, they get to go to grandma's and swim in the big pool.

I love this picture of Cutler trying to hurry and get out of the water before the shark gets him.

Noah wouldn't really swim on the side where I was so I couldn't ever really get any good pictures of him. Plus he was doing his own thing and didn't want any pictures taken. Wierd. He was having a moment I guess.

Lexie's new trick

She actually started rolling over a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't ever get it on video. If I leave her long enough (3-4 min.) she'll roll all the way across the room.

It's so fun to see all the milestones happen, but sad how fast they come.

Turkey hunt

The mighty hunter returned with this beauty on Saturday. He did save some of the meat. I will not eat it. Thanksgiving is not at my house this year!
I will say it looks like a pretty big bird. 8" beard. Your husbands will know what that means.

Camping

A few months ago Colby bought this trailer. We've been talking about getting one for a while now, and finally came across this one for a great price. The weekend after we got it Colby and the boys had to try it out. I got a phone call at about 2:00 in the morning saying they were coming home because the heater wasn't working. (This was in either Feb. or March) Now that it's warmed up quite a bit they tried again and had a great time. 2 of the grandpa's went along - I'm sure it was NOT a quiet night between the snoring and hard breathing they all do - I'm glad I wasn't there. The boys had a blast and we are all looking forward to some fun weekends this summer with my family too.
I just had to throw in these of the boys with the fish they caught. And the worms.
