Valentine's day

This year Noah had to make a box for his class valentines. We all know I'm not the most creative person...
but I'm a good idea stealer!
Jennifer & I were talking about boxes the night before and she gave me this idea.
Noah [Loves] legos so we thought this would work
Hey...not bad for the night before
and no previous thought about it
Period.

I had some little valentines set out for the kids in the morning. Fresh out of bed!

Lexie takes right after me
and goes straight for the candy

Both of the boys are totally into Bakugan's right now
Cutler was especially happy because now he has 2 green ones!
[It's his favorite color]

Colby & I usually celebrate a few days before so we don't have to fight everyone else for a table somewhere. This year... Casa Dona Maria [super yummy] with our friends Spencer & Allison

The dang binky

This actually is a post I almost thought I'd never be able to do.
The Binky is gone!
It has been for about a month now. I don't remember the date I actually started taking it away... I mean the day I took it away.
The rule became she could only have it for naps and nighttime - in her bed!
She had to leave it in there when we got her out.
She started getting more and more attached, and when she would get sick or sad or hurt she would 'need' it [as she would say]. I agreed.
It was a typical binky story...we were more attached than she was!
This was the last picture I have of her with it. Which was taken in November.

Colby and I had agreed that when she turned 2 we would work on taking it away. And since her birthday is almost the last day of the year, I decided we would start after the first of the year.
Well, that didn't happen. And after every time we got in the car and she would cry for it I was done.
One morning, I got her out of bed, making her leave it in there. We went on with our day as normal. She would ask for it, and I would tell her she didn't need it that she was a big girl. She didn't like that. I was worried when it got close to nap time.
We layed on the couch, with milk, a blankie, bunny baby, puppy, and Maggie.
No binky.
She cried for a while but was so tired she just fell asleep.
Same thing for bed that night.
And for a couple of days we just had to remind her she was a big girl.
I also had to have the talk with the boys to not talk about it.
And now it's gone.
Never even asks for it, except when she's being funny.

Not a big deal.
Except they're still in the cupboard, and when I see them I miss that she's not little enough for them anymore.

Blue & Gold banquet

This month for pack meeting it was the Blue & Gold banquet. Where really it's to welcome all the newcoming boys into scouts for the year. But we sort of did away with that last year. Now we just have dinner and awards.
And each boy makes a cake with their dad.
And it's judged.
And wins an award.

We didn't really know how to decorate for the theme so we just did an easy [GO TO] design.
Noah's cake won 'Most Patriotic Cake'

Noah loves scouts, and we love that he loves it. He loves learning new things, and how to do different things. And he loves making things. With food, wood, string, or whatever.

May is our Pinewood Derby and they're already talking about it!

Girls weekend

Janet, Kristen, Julie, and I spent the weekend in Vegas. Just us...no kids...no husbands! Aaahhh...it was MUCH-ly needed.
We drove down Friday morning-ish. Got there just in time to meet up with our cousin Tonya for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. [You just can't go to Vegas without eating there.] We chatted for over 2 hours with her. She's a hoot!!

After lunch we started our damage. We stayed in Summerlin for a couple of hours, then headed over to our timeshare to check in. After we sort of settled in we went over to Planet Hollywood and shopped the Miracle Mile shops. Tons of fun stores!
Saturday we got up and went out to Galleria Mall. But not before we had some car trouble. Luckily, there was a dealership open and able to get it fixed. So we spent pretty much the whole day at the mall. Which was fine with us!
Then we hit up Hobby Lobby, the girl scouts for some cookies, Target, and Macaroni Grill for dinner.
We were so tired after dinner we just went back to the room and talked. I guess I talked and they listened.
Sunday we hit the Premium Outlets and got home just in time for the Super Bowl.
It was such a fun weekend, and one we all needed!!

No, really...we shopped until we just couldn't shop anymore! And this wasn't even all of it.

Thank you Doug & Janet for our Girls Weekend!!
I can't wait for next year!

No training wheels

January 29

Cutler was out riding his bike, chasing the older girls up and down the street. Such a fun game for kids! When he turned around we told him we wanted to take his training wheels off because he wasn't using them anyway. He kinda moaned and groaned but Colby took them off, gave him a little push and away he went.
Done and done.
We had to lower his seat so he could reach the ground when he stops, and he has a little bit of a hard time getting started. But other than that...he's a 2 wheeler!!

Way to go buddy!

Saturday

This past weekend was proving to be quite a boring one for us. We had nothing planned...nowhere to go...nothing to do. Which isn't always a bad thing. But as the day went on we knew we needed to get out of the house. Lexie needed a nap, but I didn't want to end up anywhere cold. So we drove out to Gunlock to assess the damage from the flood. I couldn't believe how full it was. And there were a ton of logs floating all over. Down at the dam, they had a little fire going...burning all the wood. It was quite a site.
Well, Lexie fell asleep, and the boys were anxious to get out and be boys. So we let them.
Cutler got a slingshot for Christmas, so now both the boys have one. But we have very strict rules with them. They stay in the safe when not in use. And they only come out when they go to the mountains with dad. So far, the injuries have only been very minor.

You can see in the water all the logs and the little floating pieces of wood

I even took a turn. We were shooting at a bottle Noah found, and Colby was the big winner. So he bought us all Golden Spoon!!
I love that we have so many different things we can do, and places we can go, close to home. Yet we feel like we went a long ways away.

Ice fishing

A couple of weekends ago, Colby took the boys up to Panguitch lake ice fishing. I don't quite understand the point in this. It's way too cold! Plus, I get freaked out thinking that the ice is going to break and one of the boys are going to fall in. Or something bad will happen. I always make Colby promise to be safe. This time they took the Razor[which added some more freaking out], and when they were done fishing they played and had a great time.
