Horton Hears a Who

Can I just say this was such a cute movie! We decided today to take the boys to see it and they both loved it. Even Cutler sat through the whole thing. There were a couple of weird parts, and a few times Cutler jumped, but so cute. If you're thinking about taking your kids but not quite sure, take them. They'll love it!!

and the Meanest Mom award goes to...

ME!! Yes, that's right, I am the Meanest Mom!! So here's the story...(get comfy this is long) On school days (m-w-f) Noah has to have a nap. I know, that right there deserves the award. For the past couple of weeks he hasn't been taking his naps, therefore earning a nap on Tues. & Thurs. and he actually falls asleep on those days. Well, this last week was just like that. So yesterday while the boys were supposed to be napping, Noah wasn't - I'm a mom I just know he wasn't. So when Cutler woke up I decided to just go in and tell Noah to get up because Cutler goes in there anyway and bugs him. While we were in there playing and tickling him an empty package of gum wrappers fell onto his pillow (from the headboard). I looked at him and he knew the questioning was going to start. Here's the convo:

N- Well, I don't know where they're from.
me- I have an idea. Have you been sneaking and eating gum in here?
N- No, I haven't.
m- Noah, tell me the truth. You don't get in as much trouble when you tell the truth.

I then moved his bernard dog only to find something I really did not want to find. Probably 15-20 empty candy wrappers, an empty baggie which I'm sure held all of the candy, and chewed gum. Yes, chewed gum.

m- Noah what is all of this?
N- Wull....wull...uhh
m- have you been eating candy in here while you were supposed to be having a nap?!

Now the anger really comes out and let's just say I was not happy. I finally got out of him that he had been eating it during his nap time. He got in the most trouble for lying to me, and then just because he was sneaking it and eating it. In all my raging fury I took his beloved 'Hope' away and no candy for a week. That night when it came time for bed Noah grabbed carebear and Colby asked him why he was sleeping with him and not Hope, then showed him where Hope was. I listened and walked in then to tell him Hope was taken away. Noah started crying, but I stayed strong and stood my ground. I did tell him if he was good today he could have her back for tonight. It must have worked because he was so good all day long.

Yes, there's more.

Today we had to take Noah to get his pictures taken for t-ball. After they were done there was a little carnival thing over by the fields, so we walked over to let the kids play for a minute. Well, of course everyone was a winner, and everyone won...dun dun dun candy!! But Noah was so good and every time he would either tell them no, or he would take it and put it right in my bag. What a good little boy. Then on our way home here's another convo:

N- Mom, last night when we went to papa Kent's I told gramma that I couldn't have any candy.
m- You did? Did you tell her why?
N- No (laugh)
m- Did she ask you why?
N- Yes
m- what did you tell her?
N- Just what you told me
m- Did she say you have a mean mom?
N- Yes (laugh again)

So there you have it! I am the Meanest Mom!

**Note: I really really wanted to take a picture of all the wrappers but just couldn't because I didn't want him to think this was funny. But I really thought about it before making him throw them all away.

Our Easter Weekend

Here are some pictures of the weekend. Some are sideways but I couldn't change them. And I feel so bad because we couldn't get any cute pictures of the boys in their Sunday Easter outfits. So Kiddie Kandids here I come!

This weekend has been lots of fun! Our neighbors put together an egg hunt in their cul-de-sac every year and we love it! It's so much better than going to the park. There's not as many people and the kids get so much more, like they need it. Saturday morning we started off the day with that egg hunt. That night we went to Kent & Sherie's and bbq'd. Her mom, brother and his family were here, so we hung out with them for the night. The men all played cards and the women, well we just talked. Sherie's cute niece Sarah got engaged and they were here so we got to see her and Chad and her beautiful ring - congrats again!!
Sunday morning was oh so rough. After the boys saw all the fun things the Easter Bunny left for them and found all the eggs, Cutler especially did not want to leave his candy. What a mistake to give it to him first thing in the morning - but what do ya do? We finally got them ready for church and Cutler was throwing the biggest tantrum ever because all he wanted was candy. We took a few unsuccessful pictures and started our day. After church we went back to Kent & Sherie's because if you know us, we never turn down a free meal. And after that another egg hunt. Kent had hidden 2 bonus eggs, one with $10 and one with $20. They were for the big kids and adults to find. Well, while we had the boys egg hunting we were looking for the bonus eggs. Colby found the one with $20 and Kent took it from him and re-hid it. Then someone else found it - not fair!! But Noah saved the day and found the $10 egg, yeah Noah!!
After the egg hunt we had to get home so the boys could have a nap before we met Colby's family at the park for dinner. We went to the new Hidden Valley park and it is so nice! The boys had a blast and so did we. The day ended with all the boys in the sandbox. We had a great Easter! Thanks to everyone for feeding and entertaining us all weekend!

Another birthday

Aawww, isn't that such a cute picture? This is another one of the many things we got to enjoy this weekend. Cory is my sister's husband, and last week, the 18th, was his birthday. I know I'm late but hey at least I got it on here right? Saturday afternoon all my family minus Colby got together to celebrate in his honor. Yea! We bbq'd at my parents and let the kids run crazy. Happy Birthday Cory!!

Project Sandbox

Ever since we bought our home we have been wanting to put a sandbox in, but we weren't quite sure how we wanted to do it. For those of you who don't know, on the North side of our house there is nothing there. About 8' X 30' of just dirt and rocks! And I hate it!! So after 3 years we finally decided to change it. Colby's always doing something in the yard, and although he's not a 'project' man, he has completed probably one of his biggest projects yet. It has taken about 2 weeks and a lot of sweat and sore bodies to get this done. I told Colby I wanted it done for Easter, not really thinking it would happen because he had to dig so much dirt out - but he got it done! Sadly, I didn't get any before pictures and only a few during the process. But plenty of the finished product.

~First, Colby had to dig out all of the 0ld dirt. Thanks to his dad and Kent for helping with this. One of the worst things about this whole thing is there isn't a gate or any access to the sandbox from the front yard. So you have to go all the way around the house into the back and to the other side of the yard to get to it. Nice when it's finished so people can't see the kids out there all day, but not when you're trying to haul dirt in and out of there.

~Next they had the concrete guy come to pour the sidewalk. But like I said, there's no access from the front yard so they had to wheelbarrow it around the house into the backyard. The concrete was supposed to be here at 2:30. My dad showed up at 2:00 to make sure he was here when it came, and then Shan and then Doug showed up. The concrete didn't come until 4:30. So we all just hung out and wasted their time. I felt so bad.

My dad won't be very happy with me for these, but he helped so much I had to put them on here. Hooray for dad, you made the blog!!
He is such a hard worker, and a perfectionist! It's nice to have him help with things because I know it will turn out nice. Not that Colby wouldn't do a good job but...he's my dad!
~Friday they were supposed to deliver the sand, but they didn't. So Saturday while we were at the egg hunt they came.
We hurried home to this...
Once again, Colby had to wheelbarrow all of this into the backyard. I felt so bad for him.
And now we have this...
Hours and hours of entertainment! Thanks Colby for working so hard to get this done! The boys love it and so do I!! You may rest now.

...Eternity began

Many times people have asked me how it effects me when their anniversary comes around, or her birthday, and even the anniversary of her death. This is what I tell most of them:

"I would only hope that if it were me, his new wife would bring my children to visit me at the cemetary. And that his new family would still visit my family often, so that my children could stay close to my parents and my siblings and their children. I would want them to teach my children about me, so that they could feel like they knew me." I love learning things about Colby & Natalie - not so much at first, but I love it now.

I don't know any fun facts about their wedding day, and Colby's already in bed so I can't ask him.

The most important thing that I know happened on this day 8 years ago, Colby & Natalie were sealed for Eternity in the House of the Lord. Because of this, they will be together forever! We will be together forever, as one family. I didn't know Natalie, but I have learned a lot about her from her family and Colby. I have felt her around me, I'm sure teaching me how to take care of her sweet little boy, and making sure I'm a good mom to him.

Happy Anniversary Colby & Natalie!

HapPy St. PatRicK's DaY!!

Today was such a FuN day! Colby has been working a ton lately so he decided to take the day off - Yippee!! So he took Noah to school and then we went and got a few Easter things for the boys. When we picked Noah up from school we took the boys to lunch at Pizza Factory, we haven't been there in forever. Later, Colby took Noah up to Enterprise pheasant hunting for the last time for a while, and I spent some time with Cutler shopping and then just hanging out. Here is a picture of the boys at lunch, Gramma Sherie bought them their cute St. Patty's day shirts. Cutler was not cooperating as usual, he was starving so this was the best we could get.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Today is our 4th Anniversary! 4 years is definitely not a long time, but for me it just feels like we've been together forever already (I mean that in a good way) ! We've been on 2 cruises, Hawaii, Disneyland 3 times, and Palm Springs. We've lived in 3 different homes, and hope to settle into our 4th home to raise our family in the near future. Oh ya, and we've added a child to make 2!
Here are some facts about our wedding day:
  • We got married in the afternoon at 2:00, I am so not a morning person
  • We had asked a specific person to marry us and they almost didn't let him because nobody had told the temple, miscommunication on our part
  • It was supposed to be windy and possible rain, we had the most beautiful weather that day! (there was an 'angel' helping us out!)
  • After Colby & I left the temple we were starving so we went to McDonalds drive-thru and got a hamburger, Colby in his tux and me in my dress!
  • I forgot to wear my slip under my dress so it wasn't puffy and cute
  • I don't have any pictures of my cake or of my reception at all
  • A friend got us our room for the night, so we drove to Vegas and when we got there they had over-booked the hotel, we had to stay at some dive across the street
  • They were doing road construction right as you got to Vegas and you had to detour, we totally got lost

Just some fun and funny memories of our special day. Colby, I love you and hope to have many, many more years of fun!

Girls Weekend!

Almost 2 weeks ago, I was able to get away and visit some friends I haven't seen in years! In '01-'02 I went to hair school up in Provo at Dallas Roberts Academy, and although I will say I did not love hair school, I made some great friends there. We came from all over - Florida, Wyoming, Vegas, and Utah. We were able to stay at Kass' parents condo in Park City and we had a blast! Once we all got there, the laughs never stopped. We went to dinner, shopped, got pedicures, shopped some more, did mud masks, played some games and laughed. I wish so bad I wouldn't have felt the way I did, but I still had a great time. Sunday morning Kass & Elisa had to dig our cars out it snowed so much! It was so much fun getting together and seeing all you girls again!!

*disclaimer: we didn't take many pictures, we were too busy having fun. The ones we did take are after 10:00 at night, so don't judge because we all went to hair school - it was late, we didn't care what we looked like!!

Just a journal entry...

I've debated with myself for a week now whether I should post about this or not. But I feel like it is something that happened to me and I want to be able to go back one day and read about it. Since this blog is the closest thing I have to a journal, I decided I would post it. But please understand that I am not doing this to get attention or your sympathy. I simply want somewhere to put this, so that I can go back to it one day and read about it. And just a warning, it may be a little graphic for some, I wanted to have the details for a reminder too. Oh, and long.

On the 18th of February, the same day we had our family get together with Rob, I found out I was pregnant. That morning I had taken the test, and it immediately turned to a + sign. I already knew, even though I was only 3 days late, I just knew. I called Colby at work and told him, we were both excited and decided right then that we wouldn't tell anyone for as long as we could. I'm sure in the back of both our minds we were thinking I would start getting sick in almost no time, and we would have to tell because I would need help with Cutler. I was only about 4 weeks and we figured I would start getting sick at about 7 weeks, so we had a few weeks to go. As I posted before, the day I went to Park City I woke up with a horrible cough that burned from my chest all the way up my throat. But I was not going to let that stop me from a girls weekend we had been planning for over a month. I drove up there, and each day I got worse and worse. Saturday we shopped and I wasn't cramping, but I just didn't feel good, and in the back of my mind I knew something wasn't right. I got home Sunday, early afternoon and was so excited to see all my boys! The next morning when I woke up, I went to the bathroom and there was blood. But only when I wiped. I immediately called Colby and then the Dr. It was too early for the Dr. office so I waited by the phone right until it was time for them to start answering. At first they told me they didn't know if they wanted me coming in and putting the healthy patients at risk because I had this stupid cold, but they had me come in that afternoon. In the meantime my dr., Jeff Rogers was in Jimmy John's, so Colby stopped working and went to tell him what was happening and what we should do. I just love him! He told me we should take it serious and that they better get me in to see someone. He wasn't in that day so I saw dr. Ott, not my favorite. He did an ultra-sound and we saw the pregnancy. I remember when I was pregnant with Cutler at this exact same time I started cramping really bad, and was doubled over. They thought maybe it was an ectopic pregnancy, so we did an ultra-sound then too. This was the first thing he wanted to rule out. To him the pregnancy looked good. He said that when you start to miscarry the sack starts to turn from a circle to an oval shape. This was still in a circle, so I felt some relief. He told me to come back in a week or two and they would do another u.s for my sanity, sincy my regular first appointment wasn't until the end of the month. He told me I wouldn't need to go the E.R. if I kept bleeding, but that it should stop or slow down if things are o.k. And that I needed to rest and not do too much, like lift heavy objects...Cutler is a heavy object. While we were eating dinner that night, I asked Colby if I should have my dad come over and they could give me a blessing. I knew that when I asked my dad, he would immediately know I was pregnant. He came over and the that was the first thing out of his and my mom's mouth. I told them yes, but it wasn't good. I needed the blessing because of my bleeding. The next day I continued bleeding and it seemed to get worse and worse, more and more. I noticed it starting to get darker also. That same day Colby came home from work early because he was sick! Seriously, how can he take care of the boys when I can't, if he's sick too?! I decided that night that I would have to call for some help. Doug came wed. morning and took Noah to school and Cutler home with him. He brought them back after school and lunch, and then I put them down for naps and took a nap myself. Then my mom came and got them when she got off work and took them home with her until bath time. On Thursday Jennifer came and picked the boys up when she took Carson to school. I'm sure they had a blast at her house. That morning while I was getting them breakfast, I felt something weird drop. Almost like when you're delivering and you feel the baby drop down, and almost out. I stopped what I was doing and went into the bathroom. I had already changed my pad that morning, I noticed the new one was completely full and when I went to sit down on the toilet I huge clot fell into it. And a few minutes later another one came. During the day I passed 3 or 4 big clots, and miscarried the baby. Something I had heard happened to people all the time, but never thought I would have to experience it. I called the dr. and they had me come in that afternoon, again not being able to see dr. Rogers another dr. did the u.s. and confirmed what I was afraid had happened. When we left, Dr. Rogers was out in the hall and we stopped and talked to him and told him everything that had happened. I was so relieved that we were able to talk to him and that I was able to hear from him what needed to happen, and what we should and shouldn't do for a little while.
It obviously wasn't time for that little one to come and join our family, but we will try again.

Sick!

So, Friday morning, the day I went up to Park City to hang out with some friends, I woke up with a cough that hurt like a mother coming from my chest. The whole weekend I was sick, and I still am pretty stuffy. Colby has also come down with it and therefore, we are a sick family. The boys have yet to get anything and we are hoping to keep it that way. Our parents have been helping take care of them while we are on the mend. After I have somewhat recovered I will post about my exciting girls weekend getaway. It really was a blast! Until then...
