They've been telling me that one of these days they'll let me go back and see what they do with Colby behind the scenes. Today was that day!! I was pretty excited to see what actually goes on back there.
First, they get him situated on the table.
He has to be perfectly lined up in the exact same place every treatment.
Once they get the mask on him and clamped down to the table, they're able to line everything up by the marks on the mask and his tattoos.
Once he's all lined up, they lift the table up to the machine, cover him up because he gets cold,
and then everyone has to leave so they don't get the radiation.
Out here in the monitor room, you can see and hear everything that's going on in the radiation room.
Also they keep track of the radiation amounts and where it's going.
It's all pretty amazing!!
After they radiate his brain, they turn the table and the machine goes under him to radiate the spine.
Modern technology is so incredible!!!
