Pioneer Day
I know I say every year how much I love the 24th of July.
It never changes for me.
I love it!!
This year was no different. We camped on Beaver Mountain with Shan's family and had a blast. We had a few hiccups with the new trailer, but still had a ton of fun.
(gotta love the fake smile)
If you've ever been to the Beaver parade, you know they throw out a ton of candy!
Literally! One guy was using a shovel to throw it out.
And there's a ton of kids chasing the candy everywhere.
Cutler was trying his best, and this time practically dove for some.
Love these because Noah was just patiently waiting for the candy floats to start coming, so he looks mad, but as soon as he has some candy...he's happy!!
And Cutler showing us his moves. Whenever a float came by that was playing music, him and Kambree would dance away. It was so cute!!
Somebody wasn't about to look at the camera or smile. Can you guess who?
I thought this was so funny. First of all, right after the parade everyone congregates at the park and the kids do the foot races. This year Cutler was the only one who wanted to run. So we get up there, and right as they say go I look at the boy next to Cutler, and he's like 5 feet ahead of him. As his starting point! His dad put him there. So unfair! I really just laughed.
Since Cutler was the only one who wanted to run, we left after his race and got lunch at the Kan Kun then headed back up the mountain.
Good times in Beaver!!

First camping trip
We pulled out of town and headed up to New Harmony. We wanted to go somewhere close, but new, just to try out the new trailer before the big 24th camping trip. We didn't have much luck finding a spot in New Harmony, and actually got a little stuck. Thankfully, a man and his wife came up behind us and helped us out. We would have been stuck in the middle of the road all night if they hadn't shown up.
After that adventure, we decided to drive up the freeway a little bit to Bumblebee. We grabbed the first spot we came to and set up camp. Only about 30 minutes after parking Cutler spotted this rattlesnake all curled up under a rock at the fire pit.

Immediately the boys were in [Kill mode].
Everyone took a turn throwing rocks at it. Lexie even got in on that part.
And they got it. Thankfully. The whole rest of the night and next day Cutler and Noah kept 'hearing' rattling sounds. They were sure there were more snakes to be killed.
If there's one thing Colby hates, it's snakes. He was probably the happiest to get rid of it.
Then the boys had to take a turn touching it.
After the snake incident, we went on a razor ride and called it a night. Or at least tried. We put Lexie and Cutler in the same bed and they talked for almost an hour.
It was brutal.
Saturday we got up and went for another ride. Stopped to shoot some things.
Squirrels, cans, butterflies, flowers, whatever we could find.
And we relaxed.
A little.
Summer - Week 7
Cutler's Boredom Buster Camp
Rec Center
July 18 - 22
He did this same camp last year(it's the only one he could do) and absolutely loved it. This year they did it in a different room, that was totally awesome, and did different activities.
Each day they started out coloring, while they waited for everyone to get there.
They did little crafts, played games, built things, and got their wiggles out.
I totally recomend this camp to everyone.
Both of the boys had a ton of fun this summer in all their different camps. They learned lots of new things, met new people, and were worn out every day.
That was the plan!
It's kept us busy, but maybe a little too busy. I think next year we may only do 1 or 2 camps per child.

Little bird
June 30
The kids found this baby bird on our driveway and wanted to help it. They used the palm tree to make a little nest for it and tried their hardest to find some food for it. We looked all over for a nest it could have fallen out of but had no luck.
Colby put this little homemade nest (minus the bowl) up in the raingutter, which is where we thought it came from, and hoped it's momma would come back and take care of it. The next day we checked on it and the poor thing had died.
At least they tried.

Our 4th of July
Our 4th started early. We drove up to Minersville to watch the parade.
I don't think I've been to their parade since before I was married.
After their 13 floats, we headed over to grandma's for some lunch. We let the kids run around for a few hours then went up to the park for the races and games. Both the boys dunked their kid. And neither of them won their race. But they both came very close. We'll get 'em on the 24th!!
We got home in time for some
good food, family fun, and
fireworks!!
[I'm with you Mel...they say pictures are worth a thousand words
so I'll let them do the talking]
(I had to steal this one Mel)
Happy Birthday America!!
